Cafe Beantage in Los Angeles, California had not been open long when we visited in April 2016. And it did not show.
Beantage is located on South Broadway near West 4th Street in the historic Core District of Downtown Los Angeles. The infamous Grand Central Market is nearby, as is Pershing Square and the bustling jewelry district.
First Impression
As soon as we walked into Cafe Beantage, we were greeted by very friendly and welcoming owners. The cafe was clean and bright, and my eyes were drawn right away to the specialty cold brew bottles on display.
We happened to visit during a slow time in the early afternoon. That afforded us the opportunity to really connect with the owners, which was a great pleasure.
They were knowledgeable about the various coffees we talked about, and more important was their passion for providing great coffee and a great coffee experience.
Beantage Specialties
The first thing that set Cafe Beantage apart was the arrangement of cold brew coffee. We knew right off that we were in the presence of someone that knew what they were doing with coffee and we were excited to try the offerings.
We first had the cold brew which is crafted on a siphon cold brew coffee drip machine. The coffee was fresh, flavorful, and a delight to drink.
Cafe Beantage also specializes in really unique and custom lattes, including the iced strawberry and iced banana lattes.
Their green tea latte was the one we had and it was delicious. The tea was flavorful, and not overly sweet like some green tea lattes can be.
Cafe Beantage also has a tremendous selection of organic looseleaf teas, as well as specialty lemonades, limeades, and fruit beverages.
